#BrickMetro challenge

19th July 2017

This summer we will be celebrating Metro’s past and looking to the future with a very special event.  Working with renowned LEGO® architect BrickThis – aka Steve Mayes - we’ll be building the 91st Metrocar out of LEGO®.

As we look to the future with a bid for a new fleet of trains, we are asking local families to work with Steve to build a scale model of one of the current Metrocars to celebrate Metro’s proud history in Tyne and Wear.

From Monday 7th August to Friday 11th August we are inviting children aged from 5 to 11 years old to visit The Word, National Centre for the Written Word, in South Shields, to help Steve Mayes with the construction of the LEGO® Metrocar in his biggest challenge to date. The event is free but places are limited.

The completed Metrocar will go on display in The Word until 30 September 2017.  Find out more https://www.nexus.org.uk/news/item/metros-iconic-trains-are-be-recreated-lego
